North Dakota Has A New “Icon” & The Reviews Are Mixed At Best
Have you seen the new "Icon" that was unveiled by Travel North Dakota?
According to a post on Facebook, the logo is designed to "reflect the beauty, strength, and spirit of our great state". The icon shows off our beloved badlands, rolling hills, and prairies all in one logo.
I personally don't have an issue with the design. It maybe could be mistaken for a southwest state like Arizona or New Mexico, but it's fairly consistent with what we have on our license plates in North Dakota.
Everyone is a critic online, of course, and a good share of the comments on Travel North Dakota were not very complimentary.
Some of the keyboard warriors' comments include, "It needs a bison and some wheat". One person even took the time to photoshop that into the existing icon, and it looked pretty good. I have to agree with her.
Another person added that it needs the Missouri River to break up the icon. I have to agree with that as well.
One guy was complaining how much taxpayer money we spent on this logo that Chat GPT could have done better.
Lack of water was another complaint. The Missouri River, Devils Lake, Sheyenne River, etc.
Another person echoed my sentiment, that it looks like Southwest America.
Overall, more people seem to think this logo is very plain (and I have to agree) and just kind of "meh".
With that being said, some people think the icon is very good. Here's a look at it, if you haven't seen it yet. Let us know what you think in the comments.
