No Bismarck Bubble This Time: Blizzard Warning For Parts Of ND

As much as we need the moisture, I suppose I shouldn't complain, but it looks like it's going to be a longggg winter.  The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Blizzard Warning for parts of Central North Dakota including Burleigh and Morton counties.

This could be a very significant early-season storm as we are expecting anywhere between 10-16 inches of snow.  Winds could gust as high as 50 miles per hour.

The other counties in the Blizzard Warning include Grant, Stutsman, Kidder, Sheridan, Wells, Logan, La Moure, McIntosh, and Sioux Counties.

Cities included in the Blizzard Warning area include Bismarck, Mandan, Jamestown, Harvey, New Salem, Elgin, Steele, Dawson, Ashley, and Napoleon.

Much of the surrounding counties around the Blizzard Warning are in a Winter Storm Warning with lesser snow amounts expected.

The Blizzard Warning begins at 12 midnight (Thursday, November 10th) and will go on until 12 midnight tomorrow night.

Travel is expected to be very difficult to impossible.  Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility.

After the storm passes and we dig out, you can expect very cold temperatures for the foreseeable future with temps running way below average.  High temperatures will be in the teens for Bismarck Mandan through the weekend with overnight lows in the single digits below zero to around zero.

The long-range forecast isn't looking much better for the rest of November.  Colder than average temperatures are expected.  We're not expecting many opportunities for additional snow chances either.

Either way, time to make sure your snowblower is working and dig out the ice fishing equipment.  Looks like winter is here to stay.
