The city of Mandan gets a bad rap from time to time.

When in reality, Mandan has really come a long way over the last 5 years and has a lot going for it. They have a beautiful new middle school and a high school, that looks more like a college campus. Some of their athletic teams get to compete in the stunning Starion Sports Complex.

Plenty of new businesses have also been popping up from Main Street to the Strip.

Speaking of Memorial Highway, a new sign caught my attention recently.

This sign was spotted on the Strip in Mandan, in a parking lot where a company sells sheds, next to a Tri Energy Cenex location at 4426 Memorial Highway, Mandan, North Dakota.

I spoke with one of the managers at the Cenex to see if they could offer a little insight on their new future neighbors. It's unclear if the owner of the company that sells sheds is behind the new tire/express lube business or not, however, that is likely a good guess.

It doesn't appear this business is a national chain of any kind.

I did a simple Google search and I couldn't find this business name anywhere in the country. Local is usually always good right?

So, we don't have a lot to go on. It's unclear when this business will open up or when construction will begin in this location. They will certainly have some competition as there are several automotive tire/lube businesses further down Memorial Highway, but they will have the east part of the Strip all to themselves when it comes to this type of business.

We will continue to monitor this developing story. Welcome Northern Tire Mart to Mandan.

UPDATE: We received word one of the owners of Big O Tires in Mandan is behind this new business. However, it will not be competing against Big O for tires and oil changes. Instead, Northern Tire Mart will cater more towards semis and bigger trucks. No timetable for when this business will open.
