I, for one, applaud this decision. I'm the type of person who always arrives early for an appointment, a ball game, a concert, or even a date. I was taught at a very young age to be prompt.

Time is very valuable. One person being late for the party can throw the entire event off, or even cause a plane to be late.

Picture, if you will, someone who doesn't value time whatsoever. Shows up whenever. No pre-planning, just winging it. Does that sound familiar?

This sort of behavior can really mess up airline flights.

Somebody who shows up 10 minutes before their flight will likely cause delays to the flight itself. The check-in process takes time, and so does getting luggage on the plane.

Before you know it, the flight is delayed. If numerous passengers do the same, you could be 30 minutes late or longer. Then you could be at risk of missing connections in other cities. It's all tied together.

United Airlines has a new rule for all domestic flights, including the Bismarck Airport.

According to KTLA, you must arrive at least 45 MINUTES BEFORE your flight to begin the check-in process. This is a change from their previous 30 minutes before check-in. The international check-in cutoff time will remain unchanged at one hour.

However, the TSA recommends that all travelers arrive 2 hours before their flights to help avoid delays.

Passengers who fail to follow the policy could be denied the option to check their bags or be forced to miss their flight. You have been warned. Let's stay on time this summer.

United Airlines serves the following airports in North Dakota:

The Bismarck Airport, Fargo, Jamestown, Devils Lake, Minot, Dickinson, and Minot. Some of these flights are operated by SkyWest Airlines.
