The North Dakota State Bison have named a new head football coach to take over the vacant spot that will be left by Chris Klieman's exit after the Bison's final game this season.

NDSU has announced that Matt Entz will take over as head football coach. Entz is currently the Bison's defensive coordinator and he will enter his first head coaching job.

With Entz as defensive coordinator, the Bison are allowing less than 14 points per game over the past five seasons. NDSU has been consistently in the top five in overall defense and scoring defense during Entz's tenure. Entz has also been a three-time finalist for FCS Coordinator of the Year.

Entz's resume consists of a 21-years as veteran assistant coach with 15 years of experience as a defensive coordinator and eight as an associate head coach at multiple programs. The Bison have won five Missouri Valley Football Conference championships and three NCAA national champions with Entz.

Earlier this week, Coach Klieman accepted the head coaching position at Kansas State but will stay on through the last game of the NDSU season.

The Bison will take on South Dakota State tonight in the FCS Playoffs semifinal at 7 p.m. That game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
