ND Man Threatens Ex-Boss For Not Accepting Friend Request
They say it's not a good idea to be friends with your boss on facebook or other social media platforms. It's also probably a good idea not to be friends with your ex-boss on social media as well.
Well, a guy in Williston, North Dakota got so mad that his ex-coworker boss didn't accept his facebook friend request, that he went to his house last week. Oh, oh, this can't be good. According to an article on Twin Cities Pioneer Press, 29 year old Caleb Burczyk wen over to 39 year old Robert Thomas's residence and preceded to kick in his front door. "Shut the front door, right?" Thomas's family then called the cops, and Burczyk was arrested for burglary and terrorizing.
There's just something about facebook that seems to bring out the worst in people. It's almost like a way for people to stay like they're in high school forever.
Apparently Caleb Burczyk used to work for an oil well maintenance company with Robert Thomas, but Caleb was laid off. So last month he sent a facebook friend request to Robert, but Robert decided that's a hard pass. At this point Burczyk decided to send threating messages to Thomas. According to the article, one of them read, "“Accept my friend request or I’m going to murder you,” Burczyk wrote in a message to his ex-coworker, according to the police affidavit.
Yep, friending your boss on facebook is probably not a good idea, unless they friend request you. Even then, you might want to think twice. Same goes when your the boss.
