Anti-ICE Protesters are Calling for a Complete Shutdown for Today, Friday, January 30th

Organizers say this is in response to immigration enforcement tactics and the fatal shooting of two Minneapolis-area residents by federal agents in Minneapolis over the last couple of weeks. There's even a website called National Shutdown Campaign.

What this Campaign is Asking from Americans

It's calling for "no work, no school, and no shopping on Friday, January 30th. Their message is asking people to stop "funding ICE" and to demand "ICE out of everywhere." The motivation behind this nationwide initiave are the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

You may have seen posts on social media concerning this Nationwide shutdown or walkout from work, school, and no shopping. According to Newsweek, organizational efforts calling for the action have also surfaced on community forums and other platforms.

Will North Dakotans Participate?

How will this be perceived in North Dakota? We shall see. Here's what the National Shutdown Campaign website had to say, "The people of the Twin Cities have shown the way for the whole country-to stop ICE's reign of terror, we need to SHUT IT DOWN. On Friday, January 30th, join a nationwide day of no school, no work, and no shopping."
