Minneapolis Police Officer Arrested
According to NBC News, Ex Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin that was seen kneeling on George Floyd's neck has been arrested for third-degree murder and manslaughter. The video can be seen where George Floyd pleading for the officer to get off of his neck. Many people have watched the video and have started protesting earlier this week in regards to the video. The facebook video of the officer kneeling on George Floyd's neck has sparked protests not just in Minneapolis but around the country. The protests have grown quite large and Minnesota activated it's national guard to help control the protests. The protesters burned the police station along with many other buildings down, looted stores, burned cars and police cars down. There is a lot going on in the Twin Cities and many people hope it ends soon. Some protesters are going around saying "I can't breathe." The protests continue to be ongoing around the country.
All around town in the Bismarck-Mandan area I've heard people talk about the protests and there's people that agree and there's people that disagree. I witnessed some people get very upset when sharing their thoughts on how the protests are going on. During the protest on the morning of Friday May 29, 2020, during a live shot a CNN News team was arrested in the Twin Cities by Minnesota State Police. The CNN News crew has since been released from jail.
