Bottoms Up: Bismarck Bar For Over 30 Years Is Up For Sale

I spoke with the Midway Tavern's owner, Jeff Burns, this afternoon, and he told me that another full-time job is conflicting with owning the bar, and that is the reason why he decided to put the bar up for sale.

Burns has owned the bar now for two and a half years, and the bar is profitable and has made him money each year he has owned the business.

Not only does the bar have a positive cash flow, but according to Burns, it has a good staff. The darts and pool leagues are full, and it would be a good business for an owner/operator

According to statistics I've seen online (and they all vary), the average lifespan of a bar to stay in business is relatively short. Approximately 60 percent of bars fail within the first three years of operation, and 80 percent fail within the first five years.

The fact that the Midway Tavern has been around for 30-plus years is fairly impressive.
