Mandan Upsets Bismarck High In Boys Hockey
Two boys hockey teams going in opposite directions faced off in Mandan's Starion Rink Tuesday night. BHS won the previous match up 3-2 on their home ice. This time around Mandan returned the favor with a convincing 4-1 victory, despite being out shot badly for most of the game.
Bismarck High had chance after chance in the first period but failed to score, including hitting 3 posts. Mandan did not record their first shot on goal until the 7:51 mark in the first period. It didn't matter as Mandan's goaltender Zane Clausen looked spectacular at times.
The Mandan High Braves have now won 4 of their last 5 games and are tied for 3rd place in the WDA.(15 points) Mandan will face Bismarck Century this Thursday at VFW arena. Century currently trails Mandan by just one point in the standings. Bismarck High is sputtering and has lost 6 of their last 8 games. Despite their current losing streak, the Demons are currently tied for first place in the WDA with Minot (27 points) and will face off with the Magicians this Thursday at Wachter arena.
