According to a press release, the City of Mandan Community Beautification Committee is seeking volunteers to pick up litter Saturday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon. Each year more than 200 volunteers collect 400 to 500 bags of trash from ditches along major roadways. Businesses, civic organizations and youth groups are encouraged to take a route.

Route leaders will pick up supplies for volunteers on clean-up day from 8-9 a.m. at the City of Mandan grounds maintenance building located at 1600 Mandan Ave NE.

Dan’s Supermarket is providing teams on each route with tote boxes, water and chips. Dakota Community Bank and Trust is donating draw-string backpacks and additional bottles of water. Volunteers will receive t-shirts from Keep North Dakota Clean, Inc.; Leinenkugel’s – Canoes for a Cause; and Jerome Distributing Inc. plus donuts from Bearscat Bakehouse. They will also receive a voucher to stop by Cappuccino on Collins the day of the event for a complimentary coffee or beverage discount. Those who show up April 24th at Latidot Scoop and Gift Shop wearing their Clean-Up Day t-shirts will receive a free scoop of ice cream.

Volunteers are asked to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and bring protective work or garden type gloves and bug spray.  The alternative date in case of inclement weather is May 1st.  All Mandan residents are encouraged to pick up trash now, along walking trails, parks and streets as the weather continues to warm.
