There have been rumblings about JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts closing stores for a while now.

And, as usual, where there is smoke, there's usually fire. According to an article in USA Today, JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts will close stores in 49 of 50 states. The only state to escape the closures is Hawaii.

The states losing the most JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores include:

California will be closing 61 stores.

Florida will be closing 36 stores.

Michigan will be closing 33 stores.

Ohio will be closing 33 stores

Pennsylvania will be closing 33 stores.

Those would be the top 5 states where crafters will be feeling the biggest impact. It was announced on Wednesday, February 12th that JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts would be closing approximately 500 of its nearly 850 locations across the country. That's a big chunk for sure.

This news comes after JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts filed for bankruptcy two times in less than one year.

Our local JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts store is located at 2700 State Street, Bismarck, North Dakota in the Gateway Mall.

North Dakota has a total of four JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores across the state in its largest cities including, Minot, Grand Forks, Fargo, and right here in Bismarck. So, which JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts store will be closing in North Dakota?

It looks like JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts in Grand Forks will be shutting its doors for good.

This store is located at 2781 32nd Ave S, Grand Forks in the heart of a busy shopping area of the city. Grand Forks has been hit especially hard by store closures since COVID-19.

I did speak to the manager of the JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts in Bismarck and she assured me the store is not closing. Some good news for Captial City crafters.
