North Dakota Toyota Owners Alert: Urgent Recall for Older Vehicles
Hey folks, heads up if you're driving an older Toyota! The company is sounding the alarm for 50,000 vehicles, urging owners to park 'em ASAP and sort out the airbag situation.
Apparently, these cars, including the 2003-2004 Corolla and Matrix, as well as the 2004-2005 RAV4, are packing faulty airbags that could potentially turn into a dangerous metal explosion.
In a nutshell, Toyota is saying, "Do not drive these rides until we've fixed them up for free." They've even suggested not attempting to drive to the repair shop. Instead, hit up your local dealer, and they'll sort out options like mobile repairs or towing your car to the shop.
The recalled RAV4s have Takata driver's air bags while the Corolla and Matrix models have them on the passenger side. The Corolla and Matrix also are under a separate recall because their air bags can be deployed without a crash, the company said.
This recall is coming hot on the heels of Toyota recalling a million cars because the front passenger airbags weren't playing nice in a crash.
