Doesn't it seem like everywhere we turn in life there is a shark ready to bite? Not long ago there was an article put out warning all of Google Chrome threats. Users of Google Chrome were vulnerable to getting hacked by the evils of be, as all of your personal information was exposed. When are we not safe? To never let "your guard down" is really the best preventive advice.

Simple gift cards can now be used as an attempt to rip you off

This doesn't surprise me one bit, according to The Associated Press "North Dakota consumer protection officials are warning about recent gift card scams that have resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of dollars". Gift cards can easily be doctored and made to look so authentic to lure you into fake contests or products, designed to gather any personal information from you. Never give out your banking account or any credit card numbers to anyone unless you are absolutely sure they are legitimate. The AP went on to say that The Attorney General's consumer protection division reported "...they have received nine reports from victims of gift card scams, with losses totaling $45,000" That's in the last two weeks by the way.
