My goodness that's a lot of cabbage!

What a great way to end an otherwise craptastic COVID infected week!  Sanford Health is actually making a total donation of $3 million to food distribution organizations across three states.  North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa, will each receive $1 million donation per state.

Today is also the perfect day for the donation, as right here in Bismarck the Great Plains Food Bank is teaming up with the US Department of Agriculture on a massive food distribution event taking place in the parking lot of the Kirkwood Mall.  It's the USDA's Farmers to Families Food Box Program and the response today has just been insane.  Fresh produce, dairy, and meat products are packed into family size food boxes.  Today's event in Bismarck/Mandan ends at 1 pm but there is another distribution event planned for Wednesday October 28th, from 4-5:30 pm also in the Kirkwood Mall parking lot.  There are other such events going on in October all across the state.  Click here to see those locations.

Sanford's million dollar donation comes at critical time as KXNET is reporting the Great Plains Food Bank has distributed over 11 millions meals since the pandemic began in March.  That's a 45% increase over the same period in 2019.  A 45% increase!  The need in our communities is really quite incredible.

Sanford Health Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Allison Suttle is quoted in the KX article,  "This is a major investment in the well-being of our communities."

That's an understatement, kudos to Sanford Health for very generous donation that will help thousands across the Midwest.

Well done y'all!
