Catholic Priest Assaulted On Church Property
Police are investigating the physical assault of a Catholic Priest on church property, Tuesday morning, according to the Grand Forks Herald.
According to a church spokesman, The Rev. Robert Wapenski, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church in Anamoose was attacked around 8 a.m., Tuesday on the grounds of the church. It is not know if the priest was attacked in or out of the church or where on church grounds.
The priest did suffer injuries during the attack. It is unknown the extent of the priest's injuries or if he was hospitalized.
Information on the attack is hard to surface, but according to the McHenry Sheriff's office, the county investigators were working the case and are looking for evidence and persons of interest. No arrest have been made.
Wapenski, has been a priest in the Fargo diocese since June 2005, and has been living in Anamoose, ND.
