Breaking: Bismarck's Carson Wentz is Moving Up

According to a report on The Athletic, former Bismarck Century and North Dakota State star Carson Wentz is being elevated to QB2 and will back up Kyler Murray. This is no surprise to me. I said this is the way it should be weeks ago. You can read more about that below.

If you have caught any of the Minnesota Vikings preseason games this year, Carson Wentz has been about the only bright spot with the Minnesota offense. Kyler Murray has barely played, and JJ McCarthy (the guy we kept in place of Sam Darnold) has been awful.

McCarthy's Status with the Vikings

According to insiders, JJ McCarthy is expected to play tonight, if his ankle injury allows him to, and this could be it for McCarthy. Some believe this is his audition for another team in need of some quarterback depth, and the Vikings hope to get some sort of draft pick (likely a 6th-round at best) for the former top-10 overall draft pick (what a reach and colossal mistake). The Vikings may just release McCarthy altogether after cuts are announced on Sunday too.

Carson's Role with the Vikings

Wentz could see some action tonight, likely a series or two, but he is expected to back up Kyler Murray as QB2 for the Vikings. Murray, who is injury-prone, like all of the Vikings in the current QB room, will likely see action this season again for the Vikings. Again, I have never understood the Carson Wentz hate in his hometown of Bismarck. These armchair quarterbacks need to get a grip and cheer for one of our own.

The Vikings will open their season at home against Green Bay on Sunday, September 13th. SKOL!
