Caribou Coffee Suffers Credit Card Data Breach, Including This Spot In Bismarck
If you have purchased anything from Caribou Coffee between August 28 and December 3, you are going to want to keep a close watch on your credit card statements.
The coffee dealers announced Thursday they experienced a data breach that exposed customer credit card information in 265 locations nationwide, including several North Dakota and Minnesota locations. The Caribou Coffee location in the Kirkwood Mall here in Bismarck was part of the list.
The company first noticed suspicious activity on November 28. After conducting an investigation, it was determined there had been unauthorized access to Caribou's point of sale systems.
Caribou Coffee president John Butcher said the unauthorized access was stopped immediately in a press release.
"At this time, we are confident that the breach has been contained," Butcher said.
Locations in Grand Rapids, Minot, Fargo and West Fargo were also targeted, as well as several locations in Minnesota and South Dakota.
In the press release, Butcher urged customers to check their credit card statements and report any unauthorized charges to their debit or credit card issuer.
If you need more information about the breach or have other questions, you can call the company's toll free hotline number 877-698-3760, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, or email inquiries@cariboucoffee.com.
