Autumnfest Parade Cancelled
The Autumnfest Parade scheduled for Saturday, September 19th has been cancelled due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. According to an article in the Bismarck Tribune, organizers say the parade will be back in 2021, and it will be bigger and better than ever before. The Autumnfest parade is one of the biggest parades in Bismarck Mandan from both a participation and attendance standpoint each year.
Autumnfest is a traditional all American parade, with bands that come from all over the area to perform, beauty queens, community organizations, clowns, horses and floats. Thousands of people from all over Bismarck and the area attend this event every year. "Fall into the celebration" is the them. This kick-off to Autumn will truly be missed by the community.
This news comes as the United States has passed the 170,000 death mark in COVID-19 cases. North Dakota continues to see an uptick in COVID-19 cases. At the time of this article we have had over 8,500 people test positive for the coronavirus in the state. Burleigh County continues to be a hot spot in North Dakota. Today the North Dakota Department of Health reported another 60 new cases in the state. 20 of them in Burleigh County, 10 in Grand Forks County, Cass had 7 and Morton County had 3. 126 people have died in the state due to COVID-19. 55 people are currently in the hospital due to the coronavirus. To date, over 180,000 unique individuals have been tested for the disease in the state. The daily positive rate remains low at 2.2 percent.
