The Missouri Valley YMCA in Bismarck and Family Wellness Center in Mandan opened back up today on Wednesday, May 6th.  This will be phase 1 of opening back up for the two health clubs.

According to the YMCA facebook page phase 1 will include the following to be open. The walking/running tracks will be open for 13 or older.  Children 8-12 are welcome with a parent present.  Life Center/Wellness Center strength and cardio centers will also be open.  Once again ages 13 or older.  Children 8-12 must be accompanied by a parent.  On-line virtual fitness classes will continue at this time.  Both facilities will continue to close at 9pm for additional cleaning.

The following will remain closed during phase 1 at both facilities.  Locker rooms and showers, gymnasiums, child care, group fitness studios, courts and pools must remain closed during this time.

The phased period is temporary and other aspects of the facilities will continue to open up in the coming weeks.  The phases follow the North Dakota Smart Restart state guidelines as outlined by Governor Doug Burgum.

Since locker rooms are closed you will need to come dressed to work out at both facilities.  You can bring your water bottles as re-filling stations will be open, but water fountains maybe limited.

The following precautions will be taken to ensure your safety and the safety of their employees.  Workout machines will be properly spaced to ensure social distancing guidelines will be in place.  Ample hand sanitizer and wipe dispensers will be available for customers and employees.

I myself have really been missing my elliptical workout at the YMCA and can't wait to get back at it.  The YMCA will continue to open at 5am going forward.
