Some are short projects and some may take weeks. But you could save yourself time giving this a read.

I'm fortunate to get updates at work regarding future road projects in the area.  You could do the same by setting up notifications at bismarcknd.gov or cityofmandan.com. Even if it's just a short project like Thursday's Yegen Road closure, you can still avoid getting trapped in a sea of confused and frustrated commuters all trying to come up with an exit strategy.  One thing I'd like to know before we dive into construction-

Is Yegen pronounced yee-gen or yay-gen?

I've heard it pronounced both ways by old timey Bismarck folks.  You'd think y'all would have come to an agreement by now.  Is there relative to the Yegen bloodline that could clarify this for us in the comments?  Valid picture ID may be required.

OK...here's where construction is popping up

Yegen Road Closure from Morrison Avenue to Apple Creek

Thursday August 19th 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Good news everyone- this is a one day project that should all be completed Thursday.  Their working on repairing a railroad crossing.

A detour route will be in place. The detour route for northbound traffic will be west on Morrison Avenue, north on Burlington Drive, east on Expressway to Yegen Road. The detour route for southbound traffic will be west on Expressway, south on Burlington Drive, east on Morrison Avenue to Yegen Road.

Or you can try and come up with your own misguided detour...good luck!

4th Street Closure – Saturn Drive through Lunar Lane

This already started Wednesday August 18th and the road closure should continue until August 27th.

This is my favorite North-South Bismarck route. It's like driving without a care in the world!  Until construction screws up your day!

A detour route will be in place. The detour route for northbound traffic will be west on Interstate Avenue, north on Washington Street, east on Century Avenue to 4th Street. The detour route for southbound traffic will be west on Century Avenue, south on Washington Street, east on Interstate Avenue to 4th Street.

Any detour that takes you to Washington is not helping.

16th Street and Boulevard Avenue Intersection Closure

Fortunately it's just another one day project Thursday August 19th from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  Unfortunately it will could screw up that one day.  It seems the Forestry Department is taking down some trees.  No detour is listed, so just follow the signs. Or follow your head and take another route so you don't have to mess with it- after all it's just one day.

Y'all be careful out there.
