What Percentage Of NoDak Holiday Gatherings End Up In Fights?

Have you ever witnessed or been a part of a drunken holiday gathering?

One thing is for sure when the family gets together for the holidays.  Conflicts are only a topic over dinner away.

Let's face it the holidays can be stressful. 

Travel, kids fighting in the car, the hustle and bustle of shopping, money, and of course the in-laws.  YIKES, it makes me wonder why we celebrate anything together at all.  Throw a little alcohol into the mix and you could have a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency.  You serious Clark?  Yep, I sure am cousin Eddie.  Yet, you press on and try to have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny F****** Kaye.

Thanksgiving/Christmas conflicts in North Dakota?

Our friends at American Addictions Center just did a study on the states that argue the most at holiday gatherings.  Before I get to how we're doing in North Dakota, here are some findings about the whole country.  57% of people who responded to the survey say at least one person in the family gets loaded and starts conflicts at holiday gatherings.  Again, thank you cousin Eddie.  2 in 3 people would prefer a sober Christmas to avoid fights.  Political arguments are the main source of disagreements between family members over Christmas.

So, how about North Dakota?  Looks like about 23% of North Dakota families drop the gloves and have drunken disagreements over the holidays.

That looks to be somewhere in the middle of their survey.  South Dakota is one of the highest at 30%.  Montana is number one in the nation at 31% of holiday gatherings ending in fights.  Minnesota is at 28%.

It's always best to stay away from talking about politics, religion, and probably anything to do with COVID-19 if you want to ensure a happy holiday.  Happy Holidays everybody.
