Is The Wendy’s On Expressway In Bismarck On Ice?

Rumors of a Wendy's Closure Started Yesterday

There was a bunch of chatter on social media on Monday, March 9th, that the Wendy's located at 900 East Bismarck Expressway was closed. I decided to drop by the parking lot after work, and the restaurant was indeed dark. Not a creature was stirring, both inside the establishment and outside.

The other location is located right off of State Street at 3120 North 14th Street in North Bismarck. It's just south of the Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews. I decided to give this location a call to see if it was still open. It took some time to get someone to finally pick up the phone; the manager apologized, saying the store was dealing with staffing issues.

We were hearing the same problems were taking place at the south location, too. I asked him if the South Wendy's location closure was temporary.  He told me, "No, it's closed permanently". Its last day of operation was Sunday, March 8th. He also told me that all of the employees who were working at the Wendy's South Bismarck location have moved over to the north location. I asked the manager the reason for the closure, and he really didn't say, but said, "Staffing issues were a problem".  My final question was whether there were any concerns about the future of the north store, but no answer was given.

The Future of Fast Food in America

You have to wonder about the future of fast food restaurants in today's society. Not only the continue to struggle to find employees who want to work in that line of work, but it seems as though many of these establishments have priced themselves out of affordability for the average American family.
