What should have been a happy time for Walker Hayes and his family has turned tragic: The country star shared late Wednesday night (June 6) that his seventh child, a girl named Oakleigh Klover Hayes, was born and died on the same day.

“It is with great sadness that [my wife] Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven," a statement posted to Hayes' social media accounts reads. "Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve.”

Further details regarding baby Oakleigh's birth and death were not made available. Hayes has canceled his upcoming shows in order to be at home with his family and mourn. He was scheduled to perform during the 2018 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night but did not appear; he was also scheduled to perform during the 2018 CMA Music Festival on Sunday (June 10).

Hayes and his wife Laney have three sons and three daughters. He'd revealed late in 2017 that she was pregnant with Oakleigh; the baby's official due date was Friday (June 8), and the couple had planned a home birth.
