Let's face it, we don't get a lot of respect in North Dakotah.
Yes, I know how to spell it correctly. North Dakota! It's funny how many people I see on social media who have no clue how even to spell the name of our state, let alone our cities.
Some people across the country don't even realize that North Dakota is part of the United States of America.
In fact, I was telling a friend who is not from North Dakota, that some people in the United States think North Dakota is a part of Canada. No lie. When I lived in California for a while, that came up several times from the brilliant people in Hollyweird, you know who you are.
Yep, North Dakota is the Rodney Dangerfield of the United States. No respect. Even though we are one of the top 10 fastest-growing states in population, according to Pew.
I for one hope we remain an afterthought because I personally love wide-open spaces with not a lot of people. Remember that old saying, "Less is more"? You could say that it is the North Dakota motto even.
