President Trump has proposed the idea to send $2,000 to all North Dakotans except "High-Income People".

These checks would be thanks to tariffs that have been imposed on other countries across the world. Trump made headlines last week when he said he wants to send the money made by his controversial tariffs to qualifying Americans.

President Trump wrote on his Truth Social Media page, "A dividend of at least $2,000 a person, not including high-income people, will be paid to everyone. People that are against Tariffs are fools. We are now the richest, most respected country in the world." This idea was originally brought up back in July by President Trump.

Who are considered "High-Income People" and will NOT receive a dividend check from the government?

This was not clearly defined by President Trump, but the Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent did give us a hint. According to what Bessent told Fox News and an article in Newsweek, the tariff rebate checks could be given to North Dakotans and all Americans making less than $100,000. Again, this is not an official or exact number, but might be a good ballpark figure.

When can we expect these tariff checks?

As usual, there will be hoops to jump through in order for this to happen. According to CNN, this will need approval from Congress. If these checks do happen, it will likely not be until early next year, according to USA Today. I'm not going to hold my breath. It sure would've been nice to see these dividends before the holidays.
