The Sahara Night Club is back open in its previous spot, in the old Sears location in the Gateway Mall 2700 State Street in Bismarck. According to it's facebook page, it appears it reopened on New Years Eve.  The night club that caters to 18 to 20 year old's, has had tumultuous past.

You may remember, that the Sahara Night Club closed down this past September.  The non alcoholic night club was the center of some controversy over the Summer.  It had been the site of several parking lot fights, including a large one in September.  It eventually led the the Sahara losing in it's lease in the Gateway Mall.

The club caters to people 18 years of age or older, and since the Sahara doesn't serve alcohol it's allowed to stay open until 3 am.  My Father used to preach to me when I was teenager, "Nothing good happens after 11 pm," unfortunately for the Sahara, this seemed to be the case last Summer.  As the Bismarck Police Department was called in several times.

I sat down with the Mayor of Bismarck, Steve Bakken and he said there were several  altercations at the Mall parking lot right outside of the Sahara.  He also told me, that he had been approached by other business owners & area neighbors, who were concerned with the activities in the club, and outside in the parking lot.  The Mayor then placed a phone call to the Gateway Mall owner Raymond Arjmand, and asked him to look into the situation.  Mayor Bakken added in my interview, he did not call the owner to tell him to shut down the night club.  However, that is exactly what has happened this past September.

The Sahara Night Club is open every Saturday 11 pm to 3 pm.
