Keep your eyes on the sky in Bismarck Mandan today from noon to 2 pm.  There will be a plane flying over the city carrying a sign behind it "Together" , as a nonpartisan message ahead of the election tomorrow.

The plane route will take it over the state Capitol today sometime between 12 noon and 2 pm.  The plane is expected to make two to three passes.

According to a press release we received at the station,  A related massive video projection was cast on buildings around the city on Friday. The "together"  project is a nonpartisan collaborative of renowned American artists and producers, working to “reignite the American spirit, where they recognize that we have more in common than not, and the values we share make us stronger as a country.” The project is particularly timely, as recent research shows that Americans are not nearly as polarized in their beliefs and priorities as the current political environment makes it seem.

Do you think the media has had anything to do with that?  I sure do.  The headlines are already predicting civil unrest after the election results.  Stores like Walmart are removing their guns and ammunition ahead of the election.  However, as of Sunday night, the Walmart's in Bismarck Mandan still had both guns and ammunition for sale.  Let's hope our country really does come together after this election, and we receive this message.

According to their press release, Through a series of events across the United States, the "Together" design will be visible for millions of Americans over this week. Elements include, but are not limited to:

  • Together airplane banners being flown over the continental United States
  • Night-time video projections from trucks in cities across the U.S.
  • Crop art across the Midwest: revealing the Together design, element by element in different locations
  • Together murals being painted live on canvases mounted on flatbed trailers in select cities.
