If you're searching for real good food, Thrillist says "avoid North Dakota"! Sure you may disagree with the influence of German foods such as fleischkuechle and knoephla soup that are cherished in the Peace Garden State but Thrillist ranks the state at the bottom of the list of states for great food.

Let's look at the methodology Thrillist used to place NoDak at the bottom of the list.

we ranked states by the food/drink available in that state, focusing on four key questions: 1) What did they produce (beef, oranges, ugh, sorghum?), 2) What iconic food dishes  are they known for (key lime pie? onion burgers?), 3) What is their beer/wine/spirits production like  and finally 4) What is the food/drink scene like in their cities? Weighing all those factors, here is our by-no-means-scientific ranking. If you disagree and want to tell us how stupid our faces are, well, that’s what Internet commenting forums are all about.

At the bottom of the list is South Dakota and at #49 is North Dakota and according to the article, they could have flipped a coin to determine the bottom two spots. At the top of the list are for the states with great food are-

  1. California
  2. Texas
  3. New York
  4. Louisiana
  5. Illinois

Here are some of the other ranking for Midwest states-

  • Minnesota # 23
  • Montana # 40
  • Wisconsin # 22
  • Iowa # 47

Does Thrillist really know what the heck they're talking about? I'm sure many people would disagree with this ranking. You can see the entire list here.
