Thomas Rhett will be the musical guest on the March 2 episode of Saturday Night Live -- and he'll be performing new music! The country star shared the news on social media on Sunday (Feb. 17).

Rhett's spot as SNL's musical guest was announced late Saturday night (Feb. 16), on Twitter; it will be his first time on the show. The episode during which Rhett will perform will be hosted by comedian and actor John Mulaney, formerly a writer for the late-night TV sketch comedy show.

Rhett himself was the one to sweeten the deal by revealing that he'll be playing new music during his time on Saturday Night Live -- or, more accurately, his daughter Willa Gray was. On Sunday morning, the singer posted a video of his oldest daughter helping her daddy share the big news.

"Playin' some brand-new songs off a brand-new record," adds Rhett. "It's gonna be fun, y'all!"

According to the caption of Rhett's Instagram video, Rhett's new music will drop on Friday (March 1), just before his SNL performance. Further details have not been revealed.

Rhett is the latest in a long string of country artists who have performed on Saturday Night Live. Most recently, folk-rock band Mumford & Sons were the musical guests during a December episode, though Chris Stapleton, Margo Price and more have all appeared on the show.
