Which towns in North Dakota are out in the middle of nowhere?

I can hear the people who live out of state now, "all of them". Yep, North Dakota is a barren wasteland with more toilet paper than trees.

We don't get a lot of respect from the rest of the country. Hell, there are actually people who live in the United States who think North Dakota is part of Canada. No lie eh?

I recently asked my listeners and my readers online and on our social media pages again, "Which North Dakota town is the most secluded in the state?"

You know, the town in North Dakota where you are the most removed from basic amenities in life like a gas station, a hospital, a grocery store, a restaurant, a school, a Target, a car wash, a Subway, a Walmart, or God forbid, a Starbucks.

Why would anybody want to live out in the sticks? 

Out in the boonies?  Well, as somebody who grew up in one of North Dakota's biggest cities, I'm just guessing because people like it that way.

There's something about solitude that people seek. You know, getting away from the rat race. Why else do so many people look for homes out in the country these days?

Let's face it, there are some advantages to living in the middle of nowhere.

If you like the wide open spaces (and many people do) this is your kind of life.  Plenty of fresh air to breathe in.  The hustle and bustle of the morning and afternoon commutes are non-existent.  Crime is basically a non-factor.

Not to mention your neighbors are not right on top of you.  They're probably a mile or two away, and sometimes that can be a good thing.

Well, I received nearly a thousand answers online and on air, and tabulating all these small towns was no small feat.  It took about an hour to put together this list, and we believe we have identified the most "secluded" towns in all of North Dakota.

What's ironic, is that this town actually is in the least populated county in the state as well.  You can literally drive for miles without seeing another living soul.  In fact, I'm pretty sure the pheasants outnumber humans.
