Our friends at Roadsnacks came out with an article recently that caught my eye.

The 10 Worst Small North Dakota Towns for 2024.

Before any feathers get ruffled, let's keep in mind that even the worst small North Dakota towns are better than most towns around the country.

North Dakota continues to be one of the safest places to live and is a great place to raise a family.

Just like any state, we do have some trouble spots.  Roadsnacks analyzed data that showed North Dakota's highest places for crime, poverty, and unemployment.

Now, only towns with a population between 1,000 and 5,000 people were analyzed.

That works out to only 42 North Dakota cities to fall into that category.

Here's the methodology that was used to determine the 10 worst small North Dakota towns.

The criteria used FBI crime data and the Census’s 2018-2022 American Community Survey, to include the highest unemployment rates, low housing costs, adjusted median income (adjusted for the cost of living), education (number of high school dropouts), and high crime rates.

This is the tenth year Roadsnacks has ranked the 10 worst small North Dakota towns.

Before we get to the 10 worst small North Dakota towns, just in case you are wondering, these are the 3 BEST small North Dakota towns you can live in for 2024.

1. Thompson

2. Lincoln

3. Horace

(I will run down the full top 10 for you in a future article)

So, without further ado, these are the 10 WORST small North Dakota towns you could ever call home.

(Again, please keep in mind, that even the WORST in North Dakota is likely better than the BEST in other states.
