I made my way to the grand opening of Bismarck's Chick-fil-A over the lunch hour and it was a "mass fowl hysteria!"  I had heard from the Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken that there was a line of 40 plus people at 4 am this morning.  Coming from Grand Forks and remembering the craziness when Chick-fil-A opened up there a couple of years back it doesn't surprise me.

The Bismarck Police Department was actually having to direct the public on 3rd street.  Several police officers were present.  I joked with one of the officers that Bismarck PD will have to open up a "Chick-fil-A" division of the police force.  The vehicles must have been 60 deep waiting to get into the parking lot.

At the Chick-fil-A ribbon-cutting ceremony Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken said he was incredibly excited to welcome Chick-fil-A to the region.  He went on to add, "Chick-fil-A is a great fit for the community as an employer and local business operator.  They offer great food, exceptional customer service, and a family-friendly setting for residents and visitors. We are delighted to have you join our community."  Mayor Bakken also added, "Chick-fil-A has a long history of commitment to the communities they serve, giving back in thoughtful and collaborative ways that are meaningful to their customers and the community."

I got a chance to sit down with a few customers including some ladies from Bismarck Century High School who were enjoying their lunch at Chick-fil-A.  Oliva, Rese, and Quin.  They told me they placed their order online at school this morning (savvy) and had to wait about 20 minutes when they arrived.  Oliva and Rese said they give it a 10 out of 10.  Quin went a few steps further and said, "Chick-fil-A is a 10,000 out of 10."

Sounds pretty good to me.  I'm getting hungry writing this.  Looks like Chick-fil-A is living up to the hype in Bismarck.
