Who took home the “Pandemmys.”

Donald Glover became the first black director to win an Emmy for a Comedy Series, and the first black lead comedy actor to win in over 30 years.

Melissa McCarthy won an Emmy this year for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series, and she couldn’t have done it without a major assist from Sean Spicer, the former White House Press Secretary for President Donald Trump. McCarthy spoofed Spicer and his bizarrely confrontational press briefings on last season of Saturday Night Live. McCarthy’s Spicer was an inferno of rage, insults, and rolling podiums. It was an incredible performance; by far, the biggest downside of Spicer’s resignation in July was the fact that McCarthy wouldn’t get to play ol’ Spicey more on this fall’s season of SNL.

The nominations are in for the 2017 Emmy Awards and there’s just as much to celebrate as there is to be disappointed about. The 2016-2017 TV season was a huge year for the small screen, reaching the peak-iest of peak TV. It was full of more new series than you could keep track of, diverse casts, and many groundbreaking episodes in both the comedy and drama departments. A brief scan of the major categories may leave you feeling a little bummed over the nominations, with many of the usual suspecting making the cut yet again – can the Emmys even exist without Modern Family or Julia Louis-Dreyfus nods at this point? And critical and fan favorites like The Leftovers, Girls, and Legion were nowhere to be seen in the top categories.

The 2016 Emmys have arrived at last, hosted by none other than Jimmy Kimmel himself, and the competition is refreshingly tense this year. Will The People v. O.J. Simpson blow FX counterpart Fargo out of the water? What about The Americans’ first big competition, or Mr. Robot’s chances? Either way, the big announcement is finally here, as presented by black-ish star Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls returnee Lauren Graham, so let’s find out what we're all angry about/celebrating this year at the Emmys!

At last year’s Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel sent a message to Tracy Morgan, who had been hospitalized in a coma following a traffic accident that killed one of Morgan’s friends and fellow comedians. “Shout out to Tracy Morgan, we’ll see you next year, Tracy,” Kimmel told the audience at the time. Almost one year later, Morgan made good on Kimmel’s promise and surprised the Emmys crowd as he arrived on stage to present the final award of the night for Best Drama Series to a standing ovation from the crowd.

The 2015 Emmy Awards have reached their biggest award of the night, and only one can win the statue. Game of Thrones has officially taken home the statue for Outstanding Drama Series, and very surprisingly so.

Current Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and former SNL star Andy Samberg started off the 2015 Emmys in hilarious fashion. After an opening musical number reminiscent of the Lonely Island / SNL digital shorts, Samberg took the stage to warm up the crowd and remind everyone that no, Justin Timberlake wasn’t going to show up.
