Eateries around the world have been featuring sandwiches for over a hundred years.

Peanut butter and jelly, roast beef, turkey, grilled cheese, french dip, bacon-lettuce-and-tomatoes, hoagies, sloppy joes, and so many other variations of sandwiches over the years.

Two pieces of bread, wrapped around meat, cheese, or vegetables. So simple, yet so beloved.

Our friends at Chowhound put together a list of the best sandwich shops in each state, and North Dakota's winner is likely a favorite of many right here in the Capital Region.

The article didn't say exactly how they came up with the data to compile this list, but it did mention they left "no cyber stone unturned." Sounds pretty thorough to me.

North Dakota's BEST sandwich shop is right here in Bismarck. Landers' Northside Market.

That's right, North Dakota's best sandwiches come from a gas station. I know for a fact that many workplaces across Bismarck-Mandan order sandwiches to go from Lander's when they have a working lunch day.

Offices and individuals alike have all discovered Landers' for lunch.

The article goes on to say that Lander's makes tasty treasures such as soups and sandwiches from scratch, but they are most famous for their taco grinders and a fiery variation of a North Dakota favorite, sloppy joes.

Landers' is located right off of State Street at 2210 North 12th Street in Bismarck. They also have live bait and tackle, gas, propane, and they even cater. Here is a look at their menu at Landers'.

If you have never tried Landers' world-famous sandwiches before, you might want to check them off your list soon. Stay hungry, my friends.
