
Spring Canceled: A Powerful April Snowstorm For North Dakota
Spring has been canceled in North Dakota.
At the very least, it has been put on temporary hold. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for a good share of the state.
Two-thirds of North Dakota are in some sort of winter-related alert, including all of south-central North Dakota.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Burleigh, Emmons, Sioux, Kidder, McLean, Mercer, Oiver, Morton, Grant, and Sheridan counties in south-central North Dakota.
Cities included in the Winter Weather Advisory include Bismarck, Mandan, Hazelton, Steele, Sterling, Wing, Flasher, Elgin, Glen Ullin, Center, and Turtle Lake.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from now until 7 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2nd.
3 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow is possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 miles per hour.
Impacts from this April snowstorm include:
Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes today and tomorrow morning.
Southeast North Dakota is under a Winter Storm Warning:
Cities include Fargo, Jamestown, Valley City, Wahpeton, Ashley, and Napoleon.
4 to 10 inches of heavy, wet snow is possible in this area with some ice accumulations. Isolated higher snowfall totals greater than 10 inches are possible in this area. Travel could be very difficult.
Another round of snow is possible Friday for much of North Dakota, including Bismarck Mandan.
Yep, spring is at least temporarily on hold for the state.
