Some Compelling Arguments To Pass Measure 4 In North Dakota
You have probably seen the TV commercials over the last couple of months. "No on 4!"
Prominent North Dakota citizens all telling you to vote "no" on Measure 4, which would eliminate property tax in North Dakota.
School teachers, police departments, fire departments, and others telling you that abolishing property tax without a plan to replace it, will be bad for our essential services in North Dakota.
I have to admit, as a homeowner with just about everything costing more these days, eliminating property tax, and keeping a couple thousand dollars in my pocket each year sounds like a pretty good deal.
So many people are struggling these days.
The last four years of record inflation make it very difficult to even pay your bills, let alone get ahead and actually save some money.
Food prices, utilities, mortgage and credit card rates, the cost of medication, rent, car payments, childcare, entertainment, etc. It's all out of control.
There has been a lot of chatter on social media concerning measure 4 of late. Especially on Bismarck People Reporting News.
One guy, in particular, has been championing getting this measure passed. Will we really lose all those essential services if Measure 4 does pass? Is there really no plan in place?
Debunking the fear-mongering of opponents of Measure 4.
Some interesting points and you be the judge.
The biggest claim is that North Dakotans will lose control. According to those in favor of Measure 4, that is simply false. In the replacement of loss of money from abolishing property tax, the state is required by the constitution to make up the deficit.
Another big fear from TV commercials is that schools, teachers, firemen, and police will crumble if Measure 4 were to pass.
Proponents of Measure 4 call it pure fear-mongering. The state constitution will require every single dollar to be replaced by the state. No funding will be lost.
Measure 4 is likely to bring out a lot of voters in November.
That is always a good thing. I know what way I'm leaning. Time to make up your mind.
