Snow Bass…We Closed Down Our Cabin. (PHOTOS)
One last fling, one last shot, one last escapade. We closed down our cabin in NE South Dakota over the weekend. Fall is probably my favorite time to be there. The colors, the cool crisp air and amazing backdrops. Fishing is pretty good too normally. This fall however has been much colder from Bismarck, North Dakota all the way to Waubay, South Dakota. Because of that we only made it down there once after Labor day. Snow storms, wind and so much rain has made it tough.

As we set out this past weekend, snow still dotted the landscape and water temps were 42 to 45. 45 degrees is kind of the threshold when it comes to bass fishing. Once it gets below that, fishing gets pretty tough.
We knew we would have to fish very slow and deep if we were going to have any success at all.
Fishing was far from hot but we did manage some nice fish. In 3 days, we caught 15 Smallmouth Bass and all of them were South Dakota Catch & Release Whopper Club fish. The biggest was just under 6lbs caught by my son and I managed two in the mid 5's. Now the longggggg off season begins and I can't wait for April.
