See Which Two ND Cities Made The List For Happiest Places?
2020 had the stress levels at all time highs. Some compared it to the financial collapse of 2007 and 2008. I say it was much worse. Think about how you felt exactly one year ago at this time. Is there anything scarier than the unknown? We really had no idea what coronavirus could do to our lives.
As COVID-19 spread across the United States in March of 2020, we started to see the cancellation of all the things we love. The NBA was the first to put their season on pause. We saw the Class A boys and girls basketball tournament in North Dakota called off before they declared a champion. (Looking back what a mistake) Spring sports was cancelled locally, NHL hockey, college basketball's March Madness, the NCAA college hockey tournament, (Cost UND a 9th NCAA title) then businesses shut down, followed by quarantine, and all the financial hardships that went with it. YUCK, what a nightmare, and people are still trying to recover.
Thankfully, we are in a much better place in the world right now, including North Dakota. Our friends a The Wallet Hub, just finished a survey on the happiest places in America. We had not one, but two cities in North Dakota made the top 10. According to the article, Bismarck, North Dakota is the 2nd happiest city in America in 2021. Followed by Fargo, ND at #3. Only, Freemont, California was higher at #1. Other notables, #11 Sioux Falls, SD and Minneapolis, MN came in at #16. These numbers are based on the following categories. Emotional and physical well being, income and employment and finally community and environment.
