Jonnie the deer has gained attention all across the United States.  A deer that was raised on a farm south of Sterling as a baby herself, just gave birth to a pair of fawns.  Unfortunately, one of the babies died shortly after birth.  "It was just to small" according to Brenna Guenther who lives on a farm with her fiance' Caleb Fallgatter, where Jonnie spends a lot of her time.  The other fawn at the time of this article is doing well.  Here's the baby deer with Jonnie.

I first met Jonnie this past spring with my family.  You can read about that HERE.

I asked what sort of treat we could bring Jonnie, and we were told Jonnie LOVES french fries.  Go figure.

Jonnie had a pair of fawns last June as well.  Unfortunately, both of those animals died.  Danger is always near for animals.  Coyotes, fences and being hit by vehicles make everyday for a deer dangerous.  Jonnie herself was rescued as a baby after her mother and sibling were hit by a truck about 6 years ago near Sterling, North Dakota.  Since then, Jonnie became very tame and spends her time roaming between about 12 farms in the area.  However, she spends just about every evening on the porch of the Fallgatter's.

Let's hope Jonnie or Ruth as she's known to some people in the area will be able to raise this fawn to full maturity.  Such a beautiful animal.  Here's another couple of shots of the animal.
