Sam Hunt Marries Hannah Lee Fowler
Country star Sam Hunt tied the knot this weekend! After hinting at the end of February that his wedding to Hannah Lee Fowler would be coming up soon, the "Body Like a Back Road" singer and his fiancee got married on Saturday (April 15).
According to TMZ, Hunt and Fowler's wedding took place in Cedartown, Ga., with only close family and friends invited. The website also reports that the bridal party's attire, including Fowler's wedding gown, was designed by Nashville bridal designer Olia Zavozina, who also designed Hunt and Fowler's 2017 ACM Awards outfits. On Saturday (April 15), TMZ posted paparazzi-style photos of Fowler in her wedding gown, headed into the ceremony; the website also shared a photo from outside the wedding reception.
Hunt and his new bride dated on and off before getting engaged; however, she was never far from his thoughts, as depicted clearly in his songs. Fowler was the inspiration behind much of Montevallo, Hunt's debut album; his recently released song "Drinkin’ Too Much" is an apology to her: “I’m sorry I named the album Montevallo / I’m sorry people know your name now and strangers hit you up on social media / I’m sorry you can’t listen to the radio …,” Hunt sings, before specifically naming Fowler near the end of the tune.
Country's Greatest Love Stories
On Jan. 2, the day after Hunt dropped "Drinkin' Too Much," he and Fowler announced their engagement. Hunt had proposed on a trip to Israel by the Sea of Galilee; he had a grand scheme in mind, but sometimes, even the best intentions get foiled.
“Once you have the ring in your pocket and the clock is ticking … it becomes a bigger deal than you think,” Hunt says, adding that he postponed his original proposal plans due to “this little disagreement” he and Fowler had.
“I think because I felt like this disagreement spoiled my big plan to ask her to marry me, it irritated me a little more, which contributed to making the little fight worse, and it escalated to the point where it actually worked out,” Hunt explains. “We got real for a minute, after this little riff that we had. In that moment, it just felt perfect. Everything — after I asked her to marry me — just fizzled away, and we celebrated and got excited together.”
Hunt is scheduled to head out on his 15 in a 30 Tour beginning on June 1; special guests on the trek include Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese.
