If you're a loyal consumer of Honey Smacks cereal, you may want to rethink your breakfast choices in the near future.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kellogg's Honey Smacks has caused 100 Salmonella infections in 33 states.

There have not been any cases in North Dakota as of yet, but it would probably be wise to not take a chance at becoming the first in the state.

Those that become infected with Salmonella food poisoning usually experience the following symptoms within the first 12 to 72 hours: diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.

The illnesses have been reported since March 3rd and a nationwide recall of the cereal was issued on June 14th.

Honestly, I didn't even realize Honey Smacks were still in existence, mainly, because they're gross, but also, because I typically because my cereal of choice 95 percent of the time is CT Crunch (Cinnamon Toast Crunch). Therefore, when I'm grocery shopping, I just make a B-line straight to CT Crunch and don't even look at the other cereals on the shelves.

For the time being, if Honey Smacks is your jam, it's time to find a new favorite cereal.
