We received this photo from Shannon Kost of Bismarck, North Dakota who was nearly hit by a runaway truck on the Long X Bridge on US Highway 85 this morning near Watford City, North Dakota.  US Highway 85 is temporarily closed near the crash site at the time of this article.  Please watch the North Dakota Highway Patrol Social Media site for any information regarding the re-opening of US Highway 85.  ***Update...The Bridge is now open as of 3:30 pm.

According to a press-release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash took place at approximately 9 am this morning.  It involved 4 vehicles.  3 commercial motor vehicles and one passenger.  One of the commercial vehicles lost control in a construction area on the bridge where workers were working on a new addition.  The driver of the runaway truck has been identified at Delmon Moss, 46 from Florida.  He suffered minor injuries.  Moss was transported to McKenzie County Health Care Systems in Watford City, North Dakota.  Moss rear ended a car driven by Aprille Lovell from Louisiana, who sustained serious injuries and was life-flighted to Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.  The other two drivers involved in the crash had minor injuries and did not need medical attention.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.  The North Dakota Highway Patrol was assisted by McKenzie County Sheriff's office, Dunn County Sheriff's Office, McKenzie County Ambulance, McKenzie County Rural Fire, Billings County Sheriff's Office and Valley Med.

As you can see by the photo taken by Shannon Kost, this was a very serious crash and is another reminder to SLOW DOWN in construction work areas.
