BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old man found in his vehicle outside of a retail store in Bismarck.

Police say the man found dead in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart on Sunday afternoon was homeless. Authorities say employees had seen the man in the parking lot before but didn't know how long he had been staying there.

Authorities say an autopsy will be conducted by the state to determine the cause of his death.

Police say a dog found in the man's car is now being cared for at the Bismarck Animal Impound.
