North Dakota’s Saturated 72 Hour Rainfall Totals:
It has been raining pretty much nonstop since Sunday afternoon.
Here we are, Wednesday afternoon, and it's still raining in Bismarck Mandan. I asked some of my friends at the gym today, "When was the last time you remember 4 straight days of rain in the Capital City?" Nobody could recall.
After all, we have the Bismarck Bubble to prevent this sort of weather pattern from taking hold. Moisture is usually at a premium around here. I'm sure it has rained four straight days before in Bismarck, but not that I can remember in the last five years. That's pretty remarkable.
At least, we escaped the forecasted dusting of snow for the Capital Region.
Some places weren't so lucky, as we had reports from places in Grant County, like Elgin and Carson, and McIntosh and Logan counties, some accumulating snow this morning, in cities like Napoleon, Wishek, and Ashley. That snow is long gone by now.
According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, the May rainfall total in Bismarck has just ballooned to 4.66 inches of rain.
The majority of this rain has fallen over the last week. Some areas in south-central North Dakota have received that much rain in the last 72 hours.
