North Dakota’s COVID-19 Threat Level Lowered To Green!
Governor Doug Burgum announced today that he's lowering the COVID-19 threat level from "Yellow" to "Green," as coronavirus cases continue to decline in the state. In fact, we have the lowest number of active cases in the state since August. When you think about it, it's quite the turnaround. Mid November North Dakota was teetering on the brink of going from "Orange" to "Red", which would've more than likely meant more shutdowns to some degree.
Remember right before Thanksgiving, the so called experts were predicting a huge surge after turkey day? Didn't happen. Remember before the Christmas and New Years holidays they were predicting the same thing? You guessed it, it didn't happen. The reason for that could be highly debated, but I really believe two things. One, the people of North Dakota really behaved over the holidays, and did what the health experts were telling us to do. Avoid big crowds and stay close. Two, I believe we have reached our peak in the state.
Getting back to the "Green" threat level, what does it mean for us? According to an article on KVRR TV, the changes go into effect on Friday, January 29th at 8:00 a.m. The low risk level will increase the recommended occupancy limit for restaurants, bars and other food establishment from 60% to 80% of capacity, up to a max of 300 patrons. Banquets, ballroom and event venues are recommended at 75% capacity, not to exceed the ND Smart Restart capacity limits.
This means concerts are viable again. The first major show scheduled in Bismarck this spring is the Foreigner concert on Monday, April 12th. This is great news for couples getting married in 2021. Graduations, school dances, spring events, sporting events and so much more.
Yep, we're trending in the right direction North Dakota. Enjoy the moment, and lets hope for a much better 2021!
