North Dakota’s Absolute Best Gas Station Breakfast Sandwiches

I know what you are thinking...There's no such thing as a GREAT gas station breakfast sandwich.

That's what I was thinking when a buddy of mine told me to stop at the Medora Convenience & Liquor Store on a recent Medora trip this past summer.

"Stop there for what?" I asked him. "A breakfast sandwich?". I kind of scoffed at the idea. I mean if you had one gas station "Hot Stuff" type of breakfast sandwich you have had them all. I mean, those will work in a pinch, but certainly not something you would make a special stop for.

My friend went on to tell me they are famous for these breakfast sandwiches. People come from miles around to get a taste of these breakfast delights.

I can't say that I had planned on stopping for these breakfast sandwiches despite the rave reviews.  However, when I got up that morning, something was tugging at me to give it a whirl.

The first thing I noticed when I went into this quaint little C-store was how friendly their employees were. I mean, genuinely friendly, asking how your day was going and you could tell they actually cared.

I asked the guy about their breakfast sandwiches and he told me all about them right away. He said they hate to brag but they are famous for them. "What makes them so delicious", I asked him.

He told me a lot of people love the variety of bread available with the sandwiches. They include flatbread, bagels, and my favorite croissants.

What I found so delectable about the breakfast sandwiches was the hearty helping of egg and meat to go with them. Just not something you find with other types of gas station breakfast sandwiches. I mean, to be honest, those types of sandwiches are 75% bread. Here's a shot of what I'm talking about.

I spoke with Robin Griffin, the owner of the Medora Convenience & Liquor Store this morning, to let her know I planned to write a story about them. Not only about their tasty breakfast sandwiches but how here employees were some of the most friendly that I have had the pleasure of interacting with in recent years.

She was very modest but thankful for the praise I was giving her business.

Everything is BETTER in Medora, including gas station breakfast sandwiches.

Next time you are in the area, I would highly recommend you stop by the Medora Convenience Store. Oh, by the way, they also have delicious lunch options, not to mention a wide variety of gifts and collectibles. 5 stars in my humble opinion. Medora, always open!
