We now know the story behind a tragic accident that happened between Killdeer & Mandaree, North Dakota, on Highway 22 yesterday.

Dunn County, North Dakota Fatal Crash

According to a press release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, two North Dakota men lost their lives early Thursday morning on North Dakota Highway 22 when one of their rigs crossed the median, negotiating a turn, and hit the other semi truck head-on, killing both drivers.

Where Did it Happen?

On North Dakota Highway 22 near mile marker 123.5, approximately 17 miles north of Killdeer at 5:45 am Mountain Time, on Thursday, February 6th.

The Narrative Behind The Crash

A tractor-trailer hauling production water was traveling southbound on ND Highway 22, and a pup trailer was traveling north. The southbound trailer crossed the center line while maneuvering a curve in the road and struck the northbound trailer head-on. Both drivers died at the scene. A minimal amount of production water was released due to the crash. The accident kept a portion of Highway 22 closed until 3 pm Mountain Time on Thursday.

 The crash took the life of a 51-year-old male from Dickinson and a 57-year-old male from Watford City, North Dakota. Names are being withheld until family members are notified.

The crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals involved and their families.
