Nick Of Time: North Dakota Snowfall Totals Means A White X-mas
Much of North Dakota saw a swath of 4 to 8 inches for its first real snowfall of the season on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
One area of North Dakota saw close to a foot of snow. More on that in a minute.
Not only does it appear that our most recent snows will ensure a "white" Christmas for most of North Dakota, but we have a couple more chances of light snow to blanket the state before a Christmas warm-up.
The first chance for the next snow will happen this afternoon as another weaker clipper system will hit North Dakota. Accumulations are expected to be light around an inch or less. Winds should not be an issue with this system.
The next chance for snow will be Sunday evening, and that comes after some freezing rain on Sunday afternoon that could cause some icy roads. Again, light accumulations are expected.
According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, we would have very nice weather over the Christmas holiday.
You can expect above-normal temperatures in the 30s and dry conditions. This should lead to good travel conditions for most of next week.
