A Minnesota man, who has ties to Bismarck Mandan is attempting to do something on Saturday, July 9th that no other person has ever done before.  Jordan will attempt to do six thousand chin-ups in a 24-hour period.

The current Guinness World Record for most chin-ups in a 24-hour period is 5340 set by a guy named Idai Makaya in the United Kingdom.  I'm not sure I can even do 10 chin-ups total anymore and this kid is going for 6K in one day.

I spoke with Jordan Acker on the radio today, and he said, "I'm pretty sure I've done more chin-ups this year than any person on earth."  In fact, Acker has done more than 37,000 chin-ups in the last 12 months.

Why is Jordan putting his body through this mammoth task?  Acker wants to raise money for a non-profit organization called "SAVE".  Jordan's page is titled "Keep your chin-up".  It's an organization focused on suicide prevention and grief support for families like his.  You see, Jordan lost his father Robert back on August 13th, 2016 when he took his own life at the age of 46.

Jordan said, "he's been building himself up for this moment since the loss of his father and nothing is going to stop him."  Both Jordan and his father were bonded together through fitness and this is Jordan's tribute to him.  He hopes it will help other people who have gone through this terrible tragedy and prevent future suicides.

Jordan Acker is my nephew and I couldn't be prouder of him.  You can watch the livestream of the event on his Instagram page @jacker09_az.

To make a donation to his suicide prevention cause, you can do so here.

Jordan who has spent time in Bismarck Mandan over the years has been training in Arizona for this event where he now lives.  Here's an inspirational look into what Jordan has been dealing with.
